Dr. Ahani graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering which included studies in electrical and mechanical engineering in addition to the biological sciences. These studies provided a strong background for his future aspirations and goals.
It was during his undergraduate studies that Dr. Ahani decided to combine his interests in bioengineering with the dental profession. Dr. Ahani’s growing up years consisted of large gatherings with family and friends who came together frequently to interact, share, laugh, and trade jokes. His love of human interaction and great sense of humor stems from this upbringing. He made the decision to matriculate into dental school because it provided a way to combine his love of science and the arts, in addition to patient/social interaction which he so greatly enjoys. The patient/doctor relationship is very special to Dr. Ahani and he feels it is a privilege and honor to care for his patients and connect with them to help them through each step of their treatment. Continuing his education at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine, Dr Ahani was exposed to multiple different sub-specialties of dentistry and it was during this time that he became interested in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
After completing four years of dental school and obtaining his doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D), Dr Ahani furthered his education in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center, matriculating into the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, a top tier medical school. At the conclusion of medical school and obtaining his Doctorate of Medicine degree (M.D.), Dr Ahani continued with a year of general surgery training in addition to extensive hospital and office based anesthesia before focusing on completing his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
During his training, Dr Ahani was privileged to be mentored by exceptional surgeons at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in addition to some of the pioneers in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, obtaining an outstanding training which included treatment of both major and minor oral and facial defects. Dr Ahani’s interests include facial reconstructive (orthognathic) surgery due to trauma or facial asymmetries, diagnosing and surgical treatment of TMJ disease, bone grafting and dental implant placement for missing teeth, and wisdom tooth extraction
In his free time, Dr Ahani is focused on chasing his son, and enjoys spending time with his wife and family. Both he and his wife enjoy traveling, world cuisines, and training for triathlons.
